UPDATE ON THE SAVE QUEEN STREET CAMPAIGN

Following the community’s clear expression of anger in recent days at the plan to ‘prohibit general traffic’ and remove the majority of on-street parking from Queen Street, a second meeting of the Save Queen Street campaign has been arranged for Thurs 12th Oct at Meddy Bar and Grill - 3:15 to 4:30pm.

Also, a motion has been put forward by the South Devon Alliance to ask Teignbridge District Council to pause the planned Queen Street ‘on-street parking removal’ and ‘access only and pedestrian scheme’. This will be put forward for debate at the TDC Full Council at 10am on the 17th October. The meeting at Forde House will be open to the public, who are able to ask questions themselves. If anyone wants to ask a question regarding the project, or any council matter, these need to be sent before 5pm on Wednesday 11th October to - democraticservicestdc@teignbridge.gov.uk

Attendance at Forde House on the 17th October by residents and traders would certainly help focus the minds of TDC Cllrs on the future of the Town Centre. The motion put forward is as follows:

Queen Street Future High Street Fund 'traffic reduction and pedestrianisation' plans

Given the huge concerns expressed by Queen Street retailers over the Future High Street Fund plans, it is proposed that TDC park the project plan for the street and, as a matter of urgency, enter full and meaningful 'face to face' consultation involving meeting, listening to, and acting on the concerns of all retailers and residents directly affected by the proposed plans. The aim being to create a vision for the future of Queen Street and the Town Centre that carries the support of the majority of retailers and the community.
